Story

I joined StayNTouch in 2013, and the mission was far from a simple one - to revolutionize the hospitality technology industry and bring the first truly mobile property management system to the market.

To ante up the stakes, I was a total novice in the hospitality industry. Apart from an occasional stay in a hotel, I had no idea what was going on behind the front desk.

Building a product without understanding the industry makes little sense. Sure, I can make things look good in a heartbeat. But to truly understand the wants and needs of the people we are building the product for, I needed to learn a lot. And fast. Luckily, I had a team of industry veterans there to teach me all the ins and outs of what makes the hotel tick.

Joining a startup in a super early phase means that I was involved in all aspects of product vision and design, but also that I had the privilege to see the product grow from initial ideas to a feature-packed beast used to run hotels like MGM, Zoku, Fontainebleau or Yotel.

Looking back at it, we've built a world-class product, and an even more stellar global team spread across four continents.

My most notable contributions are:

  • Assisted the leadership team as a design advocate in defining product requirements
  • Leading design vision for our suite of products
  • Took ownership and designed all aspects of our flagship product - Rover PMS
  • Aided company growth by building an interactive product prototype to attract potential customers
  • Preparing bespoke HTML & CSS templates; working closely with developers and providing continuous support and guidance to ensure we deliver a remarkable product

Outcome

One of the core principles and product requirements for StayNTouch (a hotel property management system) was to design a product so easy to use that hotel staff would not need any training.

Stjepan joined StayNTouch in May 2013 to ensure we would hold up on that core requirement. In addition to ensure StayNTouch was easy to use, he also made it a beautiful looking B2B software product. Pretty much everyone of our customers loved the look and feel and ease of use of the application.

Stjepan is an excellent UX and software UI designer, he is a great guy to work with, is very innovative and delivered on his milestones and goals.

Stjepan's work was a very large and important contributor to the success of StayNTouch and sale to Shiji Group in 2018. For anyone who needs beautiful and functional software, Stjepan will deliver!
